ABOUT ME
Hi, I'm Esteban, a musician, producer and engineer. My career has gone from the film and tv industry (sound design, foley, editing) to the music industry (live sound, producing and mixing mostly). Therefore, I believe it is fair to say I am more of a sound artist at this point. I'm a true passionate about creation and production. This passion and motivation has taken me on a journey full of experiences working with great artists, producers, brands, and other creatives.
MY STORY
Music and Sound have always been an important part of my life.
I started my studies in Berklee College of Music Global Partner in Bogotá, Colombia (EMMAT), studying contemporary music and sound production. After this I came to Australia and finish my B.A of Audio Engineering & Sound Production at JMC Academy, Melbourne. In the last 5 years, I've seen myself developing at different roles of the industry (producer, mix and mastering engineer, sound designer and editor, FOH and Monitors engineer) more specifically. This mindset gave me a broad range of skills and understanding, it opened doors for me both in Colombia and Australia.
After "shadowing" a few recording sessions at different local studios back home, I landed an internship at "Talea Estudio". A live recording studio focused on live gigs, recording, live sessions, mixing and mastering. The knowledge I received from their incredible team led me to a few jobs as an Audio Editor for advertising campaigns.
I landed in Melbourne in 2019, and it has definitely changed my life in a positive way. Despite of the COVID 19 pandemic, this country opened the doors for me and gave me the chance to work with Films, Live Sound, and very talented musicians and artists doing production, recording and mixing (live and studio). On the Post production area, I started with an internship at Backlot Studios doing sound design and foley. At the same time, I was assisting some sessions at Newmarket Studios with Guus Hoevenaars, great engineer who taught me a lot of recording and mixing. In this studio I had the chance of assisting recording and mixing sessions with many of the most talented artists of Australia like Vance Joy, Courtney Barnett and Kingswood among others. Two years later, I had the chance to work as an audio visual technician, and this opened up the live sound area for me. I gained valuable experience working with many AV companies around Melbourne and different music venues and bands as well. I worked in places like Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, MCG, Crown Casino, and many local venues focused on live music. Had the privilege to mix a wide range of local talent such as Paul Kelly, Andrew De Silva (CBD, Australia's got talent 2012 winner) , Cam Tapp, Alisya Rae, Montana Sharp, Alethia, Pal Mar, and many other gifted musicians around Australia.
​In 2024 I came back to my home country. During my time back at Colombia I started my own music project, co found Mint Audio (a company focused on post production services).
MY MISSION
As a producer or engineer, my main objective is to bring your project into reality. Your gig, your song, your movie, you name it. It doesn’t matter the type of creator you are, I'm committed to achieve exceptional results from your work and my work. I truly believe that going an extra mile, it's what makes us different to the rest and make our work outstanding.
Long story short, I love creation and the perfection of it through technical knowledge and skills. All the challenges, process, and rewards. Being around creatives and being part of awesome projects it's what build an endless source of inspiration and motivation on my projects.
